About Richard

I’ve been where you are.

Not perfect, not finished, but aligned. Moving in the right direction on purpose.

Richard Wollenberger is a Certified Levin Life Coach™ specializing in Reinvention Coaching and a 39-year IT veteran. Richard currently serves as IT Director and HIPAA Compliance & Security Officer at Parents as Teachers National Center in St. Louis, a role he has held for more than 20 years.

Richard is also the 2026 NTEN Lifetime Achievement Award honoree, recognized for a career defined by selfless support of others in the nonprofit technology community. Richard listens for the story underneath the surface — not just the problem on top of it. When people feel truly heard, they start believing in themselves again.

Richard didn’t arrive at this work by accident. It came from living through his own reinventions — theater to technology, career to caregiving, loss to rebuilding, losing over 100 lbs (and counting) along the way — and learning, each time, who he was underneath the role he was playing. That’s the story below.

WHO RICHARD HELPS

Making your own mission possible.

You care deeply. You show up. You make a difference. But somewhere along the way, you may have lost sight of what you want for yourself.

Mission-Driven Professionals

You’ve spent years serving others and making a difference. Now you’re ready to consider what’s next for you.

Overworked & Overwhelmed

You have too much on your plate, and the life you’re living no longer feels sustainable or fulfilling.

Ready for More

You know something needs to change. You may not know exactly what comes next — and that's okay.

MY STORY

A Life of Reinvention

Richard's story continues to be shaped by change, challenge, loss, and rebuilding - each chapter helping him discover who he truly is beyond his job title.

The First Reinvention
A theater kid with a dream — until marriage made him choose stability over the uncertainty of contract work. In 1987, he joined Forsythe Computers in St. Louis, and found a world of precision and detail that fit him. First proof that he could become someone new — on purpose.
Leadership
What started as a job became a career in technology leadership — 20-plus years supporting the nonprofit he works for, and nonprofit IT professionals across the country.
Life Challenges
Job loss, corporate acquisitions, financial strain, difficult seasons, estrangement, forgiveness, and newfound faith shaped him.
Loss
Richard lost his wife in June 2022 after caring for her for nearly two years during a devastating illness.
Rebuilding
Richard rebuilt his life — a new home, new routines, his health, his relationships — and found love again. He discovered who he is beyond a job title.
Reinvention
A coaching class in 2025, meant as personal enrichment, showed him what he wanted to do next. Then Nancy Levin told him something he’s never forgotten: “Your heart knows what it wants to do. You need to let your head catch up to your heart.” Nine months of vision, choice, and action followed — facing shadow beliefs, rebuilding self-worth, learning to be seen. That work became his certification as a Levin Life Coach, and now, his mission to help others do the same.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Making your own mission possible.

You care deeply. You show up. You make a difference. But somewhere along the way, you may have lost sight of what you want for yourself.

Peace is what happens when you close the gap between who you're pretending to be and who you really are
